Volunteering at Leeds North & West Foodbank

15th October 2025

The team rolled up their sleeves

Our team members Liam Stokey, Luke Blackburn, Faseeh-Ullah Elahi, and Aston Harrison spent the day volunteering at Leeds North and West Foodbank.

We helped sort stock, organise donations, and make sure food gets to the people who need it most. It was a hands-on experience that really showed us how important this work is.

Volunteering is more than just giving time. It’s about connecting with the community and making a real impact.

What the Foodbank Does

Leeds North and West Foodbank provides three days’ worth of emergency food to people in crisis. Whether someone has lost their job, is facing unexpected bills, or struggling with low income, the foodbank ensures they do not go hungry.

Since it started in 2013, the foodbank has grown to seven centres across North and West Leeds. It also delivers food to areas without a local centre, ensuring help reaches everyone who needs it.

The People Behind the Project

The foodbank is run by local churches and community groups, with support from the Trussell Trust. This network of volunteers works tirelessly to keep the foodbank running and to support people in crisis.

It’s a great example of how community action can make a real difference. Every donation, every volunteer hour, and every delivery helps stop hunger in Leeds.

Why Volunteering Matters

For our team, the day at the foodbank was more than just sorting and organising. It was a rewarding experience that reminded us of the power of small actions.

Even a few hours of volunteering can have a huge impact on someone’s life. It’s a chance to give back, meet new people, and support a cause that genuinely matters.
