What’s It Like to Work in Recruitment? 1 Year at Seven
12th September 2025What’s it like to work in recruitment?
This year, Hannah, Aston, and Maisie have all celebrated their one year milestones at Seven, our specialist FMCG, retail, and consumer recruitment business. We caught up with them to hear about their first in the recruitment world and of course their time at Seven so far.
How has your first year been?
Hannah: “My first year here has been amazing. I have grown so much proffessionally but also personally. It has massively improved my confidence and I have really enjoyed being part of such a welcoming team.”
What has surprised you most about working here?
Maisie: “I’ve been surprised by just how many new people I get to speak with regularly and how small the industries really are once you get to know them! I’ve also gained a whole new appreciation for the wide variety of roles that exist within businesses and teams.”
If you could give your first-day self one tip, what would it be?
Aston: “Ask more questions and if you think you’ve asked enough, ask more. There is so much information to absorb, and I am always constantly learning.”
What part of your job do you enjoy the most?
Hannah: “Connecting with candidates, I get to speak to so many people from all walks of life and try to help them and it is definitely the best part of my job.”
What new skills or tricks have you learned this year?
Maisie: “This year, I’ve become much more efficient in my search work and more tech-savvy with my research. I’ve also learned how to handle pushbacks and navigate negotiations, as well as think quickly on my feet to manage expectations and find solutions.”
How would you describe working with the team?
Aston: “The whole team have been very welcoming since day one. Always on hand to offer any advice and have been a great team to learn firsthand from.”
What are you most looking forward to in the year ahead?
Hannah: “I am looking forward to getting better and improving. Sometimes processes don’t go your way but I can see how far I have come over the past year so I want to stay on that trajectory and deliver some great placements!”
These reflections show the growth of our team and the supportive culture at Seven. We are proud of Hannah, Aston, and Maisie and excited to see what they achieve in the coming year.
