Seven years at Seven
5th December 2024
A behind the scenes chat with Caroline
Celebrating seven years at Seven is a remarkable achievement! We sat down with Caroline, our Office Manager, to reflect on her time here, her biggest achievements and what makes Seven a great business to stay within.
Here’s what Caroline had to say about her seven years at Seven Search and Selection:
Can you tell us a little about yourself and your role as Office Manager at Seven?
As Office Manager, I do all the “other” bits – I deal with contracts (job boards, offices, printers), paperwork (overseeing invoices/blue files, checking bills). Admin-wise, I upload all our jobs to the job boards, including for Hovis as well, I help with formatting CVs to save consultants time and effort that they could be using towards billing. I try to keep the cogs turning by reacting to people’s needs – whether that’s arranging a DocuSign for new client terms or dealing with an IT problem. I arrange all company travel and accommodation, and I get to arrange all the fun that we do!! Essentially, I deal with everything that’s not recruitment, accounts, or marketing, whatever is thrown at me.
Seven years is an incredible milestone! What initially drew you to join the company, and what’s kept you here?
I was drawn to the company’s culture and sense of family. I knew the previous office manager had been here a long time, so it must have been a nice place to work.
How has your role evolved over the past seven years?
My role has evolved as there are fewer physical things to look after hardware-wise (we no longer have monitors, tonnes of cables, reams of paperwork thanks to Covid sending everything digital!). I can’t remember the last time I sent a physical written letter, apart from the packages we sent new starters.
What’s been your proudest moment?
I’ve been proud of my big projects—Christmas do’s, our trip to Palma, my secondment at one of our longest-standing clients, and our 3 office moves. Although admittedly our last one felt pretty easy despite the short notice, as we had less stuff to move each time it seems!
How would you describe the culture at Seven?
The culture at Seven I would describe as nurturing, while also allowing for individuality. The closeness of the teams makes it easy to share their vacancies/candidates and therefore successes.
How has the company changed or grown since you first started?
The company has grown a lot over this time in terms of adapting to the times and evolving, although I have no doubt they’ve always done this, hence the continued success!
What’s your favourite part of working with the team?
I love to see everyone succeeding. There’s nothing like adding an invoice to the system for someone who you have heard working hard for their fee over the previous weeks. I also like listening to everyone’s different styles and seeing them all get to their own goals individually. Gabby, Liam & Stewart have always made me feel like I make a difference, even though I’m not a billing member of the team. They are brilliant to work for and make me feel inspired to continue to work hard for them. They put the graft in and lead by example in the best way!
Where do you see Seven Search and Selection heading in the future?
Hopefully, Seven will continue to grow in size and success.
Finally, if you could describe your time at Seven in one word, what would it be?
Hmmm, this is a tough one…. Inspired.
Congratulations on your incredible achievement. Here’s to the next seven years!
