Looking for jobs in the FMCG, Retail or Consumer world? If you’re not using LinkedIn, you should be!

15th June 2023

LinkedIn is probably the best professional networking and job seeking platform out there. If you are in the market for new jobs, whether that’s in the FMCG world or any industry, you should definitely be using LinkedIn!

If you’re not all that familiar with LinkedIn as a job seeking tool, we’ve done a quick summary of what you can be doing to help find that next FMCG (or other) job opportunity:

Optimise your LinkedIn profile:

Ensure that your LinkedIn profile is complete, up-to-date (include all those FMCG jobs you have gained experience in in the past), and presents you in a professional light. Include a clear and professional headshot, a compelling headline, and a well-crafted summary.

⭐ Be ‘Open to work’:

This feature allows you to signal to recruiters and hiring managers you are actively seeking job opportunities. It helps LinkedIn’s algorithms better understand your job preferences, and means you are more likely to be on recruiters’ radars for exciting opportunities.

⭐ Expand your network:

Connect with professionals in your industry, colleagues, former classmates, and other individuals who can provide valuable insights or opportunities. The FMCG world is an exciting one, immerse yourself in it to be in with  more chance of seeing exciting jobs.

⭐ Actively engage with content:

Regularly interact with posts, articles, and updates that are relevant to your field of interest. Like, comment, and share thoughtfully, as this can help you build connections and visibility within your industry.

Use LinkedIn for FMCG jobs search

⭐ Utilise the job search feature:

LinkedIn has a dedicated job search feature that allows you to filter job opportunities based on various criteria such as location, industry, experience level, and more. Explore the platform’s job listings, save relevant job searches, and set up job alerts to stay updated with new opportunities.

⭐ Leverage your connections:

Leverage your network by reaching out to connections and recruitment agencies who work within industries you’re interested in. Express your career goals, ask for advice, and inquire if they know of any relevant job openings. Personal referrals can significantly increase your chances of being considered for a position.

⭐ Join relevant groups and communities:

Participate in LinkedIn groups and communities that align with your career interests. Engage in discussions, share your expertise, and build relationships with like-minded professionals.

⭐ Request recommendations:

Reach out to former colleagues, managers, or mentors and request recommendations for your LinkedIn profile. Positive recommendations can provide proof of your skills and abilities to potential employers, making you a more attractive candidate.

LinkedIn is a professional networking platform, so maintaining a professional and positive online presence is crucial. By leveraging the platform effectively, engaging with others, and showcasing your skills and expertise, you can increase your chances of finding your next job. Good luck!
