What the Employee Ownership of Seven Means to Me

6th January 2023

Recruitment Consultant of 7 years-Will Cracknell tells us how Sevens new Employee Ownership has impacted him.

I’ve been at Seven since 2016, with my current role being a recruitment Consultant within the consumer sector. I mainly work on sales roles from Account Executive up to SNAM, Controller, and some Director roles. I work mainly with drinks companies, blue chip as well as SME and have a few clients within non-food FMCG.  Before joining Seven I had worked in a couple of different sectors. I immediately liked working in food/ drink with well known brands that you consume on a daily basis it makes the role so interesting!

The recent news that Seven has been transferred over to its employees was really exciting to me. I think its interesting that Gabby, Liam, and Stewart chose such a principled way to sell the business. They want to ensure that Seven keeps hold of its values but doesn’t lose that special something that makes it loved by clients and candidates.

I don’t think the move changes too much on a daily basis. It gives everyone more motivation and job satisfaction. The thought of knowing that their say in the business is as valued and important as anyone else’s. We really are one equal team now which is great. As a people-focused organisation this shows that we’re true to our values. This gives more of a sense of purpose to the roles we all do.

Long term impacts

Long Term focus as a recruitment consultant

I’m excited to see the long-term impact of becoming an employee owned company which I think is going to be really positive for everyone involved. As Liam, Gabby and Stew aren’t imminently leaving. It will take a bit of time to see any big changes but moving into 2023 it gives everyone more ownership of what they do which is very motivating

I had some great feedback from clients about the news. A lot of the comments were around how it fully reflects our values as a business which was nice to hear. I think clients and candidates really appreciate the fact we’re an extremely people-focused business and this news only reinforces that message.

Let’s see what the future holds!
